Bazaar of the Unconscious
2025A surreal self-portrait series exploring the threshold between unconscious and conscious. Each image is a visual rebus — a theatrical composition of symbolic objects and vivid colors — that asks the viewer to decode the unsaid and uncover the message hidden within, reflecting on the individual and contemporary society.
Fertile Vegetation
2023A staged photography project exploring why a woman of childbearing age might choose not to pursue motherhood. Set in a dreamlike, artificial woodland, the series follows an idealized chronology — conception, awareness, fetal development, breaking of waters, labor, childbirth — and the hesitations tied to each stage, opening space for alternative paths and a more inclusive discourse on motherhood.
Marta Scavone (b. 1998, Turin) is a visual artist who uses photography as a tool for construction and staging.
Her work is primarily developed in the studio, conceived as a true “construction chamber,” where every element is carefully controlled and orchestrated, producing images that exist between photography, painting, and staged performance.
She is represented by the Febo e Dafne gallery in Turin and has exhibited internationally, including in Turin, Milan, Paris, Johannesburg and New York.
